Presentation CST-1: Moving Beyond the Boundaries: Data Protection and Information Sharing Among Stakeholders

03/23/2010

Prerequisite: None

Presented by Accenture

Information security has evolved alongside the changing nature of cyber threats. In the early days, it was enough to secure the assets that held the data, from computers to mobile devices. Yet addressing today’s complex cyber threats—and fostering the clear need to share information with stakeholders—demands strong information assurance practices that protect the data itself to ensure its confidentiality, integrity and availability as it moves across an organization.

Success for government agencies and defense and intelligence organizations means moving beyond an isolated, defensive, bunker mentality to predictive and proactive solutions and advanced analytics that mitigate threats derived from malware, organized crime, terrorists or nation-state attackers long before they occur.

In this talk, Accenture’s Ryan LaSalle will discuss the transformation of the cyber battleground and the need for a multi-faceted cyber strategy that incorporates monitoring, analysis, defense, reporting, incident sharing, compliance, governance and performance metrics. Session attendees will develop an understanding of the following:

· The new realities of today’s cyber security environment and the imperative for offensive strategies.

· Predictive intelligence, data protection and information sharing among stakeholders.

· New roles for key stakeholders—from government and defense to the private sector.

· Situational metrics development between government and the private sector.

· Innovative solutions for cross-stakeholder incident sharing without compromising security.

In addition, Mr. LaSalle will detail a new model for situational awareness between the commercial infrastructure community, state and federal agencies, defense and intelligence organizations and the law enforcement community. He will also share real-world insights gleaned from a 30-year career spanning senior commercial, government, military and law enforcement roles.
